'Gardenia' Peony Root

$28.00
SOLD OUT

‘Gardenia’ is a fabulous mid-season peony, known for its rich, classic fragrance and large, billowy fully double flowers. Its blooms are the rich creamy white of true Gardenias, sometimes with a touch of crimson at the petal tips. For me, the blooms also have a hint of blush in their outer petals and are held high on strong, red stems, making them ideal for cutting.

The lush, bushy plant has glossy green “cut leaf” foliage and will become 34” tall and wide after a few years.

We offer ONLY large 3-5+ eye roots. Peonies rarely bloom the first spring after planting but will reward you with a few blooms in year 2, more in year 3 and MANY more from that point on … in fact, they’ll bloom every year for DECADES!

Peonies thrive in Zones 3 to 8.

HOW TO GROW

We include complete growing advice with every order, but for now, please plan to plant your peony roots in the ground right away in a spot that receives full sun and has good drainage. In very hot climates, peonies don’t mind some afternoon shade.

If you can’t plant them right away, keep the roots in their bag in a cool, dark and dry spot. A cool garage should work great. But don’t forget about them — they need to be planted before the ground freezes.
