Peony 'Lemon Chiffon' is widely considered by collectors to be the absolute pinnacle of yellow Herbaceous peonies. It commands its elite reputation because the true, clear butter-yellow is an exceptionally rare color for Herbaceous peonies. In fact, you’d think this beauty is an Itoh Hybrid peony, but it’s not.
‘Lemon Chiffon’ has an unusual trait: during its first two to three years it typically produces lighter, semi-double flowers. Then, as the plant matures and its root system establishes (around year 4), it shifts to producing massive, densely layered bomb- to ball-type double blooms that can reach 7-8” in diameter.

Height: 32” with thick, storm-proof stems that hold the huge blooms upright (even when rain drenched), completely eliminating the need for hoops, stakes or cages
HOW TO GROW
We include complete growing advice with every order but for now, plan to plant your peony roots in the ground right away in a spot that receives full sun and has good drainage. In very hot climates, peonies don’t mind some afternoon shade.
If you can’t plant them right away, keep the roots in their bag in a cool, dark and dry spot. A cool garage should work great. But don’t forget about them — they need to be planted before the ground freezes.
Peonies thrive in Zones 3 to 8.
